Applying multidisciplinary expertise of flight and space transportation systems to innovative solutions…

BRANCH HEAD: Glenn J. Bobskill

OVERVIEW

The Vehicle Analysis Branch (VAB) applies its multidisciplinary, VAB10system-level expertise of high speed atmospheric flight and end-to-end space transportation systems to connect appropriate technologies to innovative system solutions that enable LaRC Strategic Thrusts to support NASA Mission Goals. We employ deterministic and probabilistic variable fidelity analyses, implementing empirical and physics based methodologies, in order to provide timely, insightful analysis from concept to flight.

Significant support is provided to the Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate, the Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate, and the Space Technology Mission Directorate in the areas of vehicle systems analysis and analytical tool development.

VAB Products include:

  • Mission/Concepts Development
  • Trends/Trade Studies
  • Independent Assessment (Concepts/Technologies)
  • Systems level outcomes for LaRC Technology Portfolio
  • Technology Solution Advocacy
  • Roadmaps development (Agency/Product Line Leads)
  • Discipline subject matter expertise (SME) with a Systems Analysis perspective

Mission Statement

VAB applies its multidisciplinary, system-level expertise of high speed atmospheric flight and end-to-end space transportation systems to connect appropriate technologies to innovative system solutions that enable LaRC Strategic Thrusts to support NASA Mission Goals. We employ deterministic and probabilistic variable fidelity analyses, implementing empirical and physics based methodologies, in order to provide timely, insightful analysis from concept to flight.

Vision Statement

To be the preferred provider of concept development, technology assessment, and system innovation for high speed flight vehicles in any atmosphere and end-to-end space transportation systems.
